BP

BPI think that they not only owe the people directly affected by the spill, but also every single person on this earth. When someone disrupts the ecosystem like they have done they should have to pay. Take away all their money and property and split with every person on this earth. How irresponsible to drill a mile down in the ocean where they have no experience in repairing leaks which are always a possibility.

Re: BPI haven't followed this story as much as I should have, but isn't the verdict more or less saying that it's not entirely BP's fault? I agree with the topic of irresponsibility regarding drilling that deep into the ocean, but there's got to be a bunch of blame on the beatoff running the rig. To my understanding, the rig was either owned or operated by an outside company.

Re: BPI don't know about owned, but it was run by an outside company and Halliburton was doing work on it up until it exploded. Bottom line, if they are your contractors and they fuck something up, you pay. And in reality, the entire industry would do well to start pouring money in to fixing the problem if they wish to stay in coastal communities, and the federal government’s good graces. The previous administration was far to lenient on lots of industries, Bush was a oilman and Chaney worked at Halliburton, and with republican’s mantra of “Drill, baby, drill” and their insistence to deregulate everything, these types of outcomes shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. Ultimately, let’s hope that this leads to positive work on tougher regulation for off-shore drilling with higher safety standards, and more alternative energy research. There is no reason this country should have such a shambles of an energy infrastructure, a failing rail system, while the majority of this country’s cities have terrible mass transit systems that are underused.
Re: BPLook to the company that stood to profit the most and has the deepest pockets: BP. It's all their fault and they are the ones who should pay. BP is liable even if other companies are operating the equipment. ESPECIALLY when you find out about the cost cutting measures of BP which caused the leak.
Re: BPOk i know i will be the chode to ask this but..... Where is the save the gulf telethon and concerts? i bet as soon as the oil gets to the mexican shore and ruins all that beautiful beach front hotel sand there will be one.
Re: BP
Yeah, that's pretty xenophobic and douche-y. The reason there isn't any "gulf telethon" is because BP is supposedly going to pay for everything. Hurricanes, earthquakes, tsunamis are all natural disasters without a corporate sponsor. How quick the "we never help Americans, only brown foreigners" crowd forgets the massive amount of aid, that not only came from fellow americans but from most foreign countries, after Katrina (Mexico happened to send quite a bit). There was incredible amounts of aid that came from all over the country right here in Kansas when a tornado leveled a town. Here are some links for you: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mexican_re ... ne_Katrina http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/09/ ... 4295.shtml Here's a list of what most nations have sent us for Katrina: http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/dis_h ... d-response
